It is official: GTA 6 is taking us back to the neon-drenched streets of Vice City on November 19, 2026. But while the massive map of Leonida has everyone talking, the real heart of the game lies in its protagonists. For the first time in Grand Theft Auto history, we are getting a dual-protagonist system featuring a male and a female character in a romantic relationship.
Meet Lucia and Jason—the modern-day Bonnie and Clyde of the gaming world.
Who is Lucia?
Lucia made history the moment the first trailer dropped. She is GTA’s first-ever playable female protagonist in the 3D era. From what we’ve seen in the trailer and the massive leaks, Lucia is fierce, smart, and deeply entangled in the criminal underworld of Leonida.
The story seems to kick off right after her release from prison, wearing an ankle monitor. She appears to be the driving force behind the duo’s early criminal activities, pushing Jason into high-stakes robberies.
Who is Jason?
While Jason has kept a slightly lower profile in the official footage, he is the perfect counterpart to Lucia. Leaks suggest he is a bit more grounded but fiercely loyal to her. The dynamic between his trust in Lucia and the chaos of the Vice City crime scene will be the core engine driving the entire storyline.
Trust is Everything: The Relationship Mechanic
Unlike GTA 5, where the three main characters often worked apart, Lucia and Jason are a team. Rockstar is focusing heavily on a “Trust System”. Rumors suggest that your choices during missions will impact how much they trust each other, which could alter dialog, gameplay features, and potentially even lead to multiple different endings.
One thing is certain: their chemistry is going to make the GTA 6 campaign an absolute rollercoaster.
